Sat Mar 08 11:13:40 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Court Dismisses Tanushree Dutta’s #MeToo Case Against Nana Patekar

**Mumbai, March 8, 2025** – A Mumbai court has dismissed the #MeToo case filed by actress Tanushree Dutta against actor Nana Patekar and others, citing that the complaint was filed beyond the statutory limitation period. The Andheri court’s decision brings an end to a high-profile case that garnered significant attention in 2018.

The case, filed in October 2018, alleged two incidents of harassment: one in March 2008 and another in October 2018. The court found that the investigation into the 2008 incident, which fell outside the three-year limitation period for the alleged offenses, failed to produce incriminating evidence against the accused. While acknowledging the alleged incident, the court stated it couldn’t be definitively proven or disproven due to the limitations on the investigation.

Regarding the second incident, involving a comment made by one of the accused on a news channel, the court ruled that while a breach of privacy occurred, there was insufficient evidence to prove malicious intent. The court deemed the comment part of a sting operation and noted the absence of clear intention to publish the comment publicly.

Ms. Dutta expressed her disappointment with the court’s decision, stating that the legal process had failed her. The dismissal of the case concludes a significant chapter in India’s #MeToo movement.
