Wed Mar 05 22:51:06 UTC 2025: ## Jaishankar: Trump Administration’s Priorities Align with India’s Multipolar Vision

**London, March 6, 2025** – External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that several key priorities of the Trump administration are beneficial to India, aligning with India’s vision of a multipolar world. Speaking at Chatham House in London on Wednesday, Jaishankar highlighted areas of significant cooperation between India and the United States.

Jaishankar emphasized the Trump administration’s shift towards multipolarity, a stance he believes is advantageous for India. He cited the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) – comprising India, the U.S., Australia, and Japan – as a prime example of this shared enterprise, noting the equitable burden-sharing among members. This contrasts with the financial burden-sharing issues currently plaguing NATO.

The minister also expressed India’s welcome of the Trump administration’s approach to energy, aiming for stable and affordable prices, and its focus on technological development as a key factor in global politics. He specifically mentioned the potential for collaboration on connectivity initiatives, such as the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC), highlighted in a recent joint statement following Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with President Trump.

Jaishankar further addressed the ongoing trade discussions between Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and the Trump administration, stating that India-U.S. relations are currently at their strongest. He underscored India’s support for the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, despite promoting the rupee’s internationalization to facilitate India’s global growth and address the shortage of hard currency, particularly dollars, in the region. He clarified that while India is promoting the internationalization of the Rupee, this does not represent opposition to the dollar, and that a stable international financial system is crucial. He also dispelled the notion of a unified BRICS position against the dollar, emphasizing the diversity of views within the group. Jaishankar concluded by stating that strengthening the international financial and economic system in collaboration with the U.S. should be a top priority for India.
