Sat Mar 08 13:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Millions Affected in Major Data Breach at US Employee Screening Company

**BOSTON, MA – May 1, 2024** – A massive data breach at DISA Global Solutions, a U.S.-based employee screening company, has exposed the personal information of over 3.3 million individuals, including more than 360,000 Massachusetts residents. The company revealed the breach on April 22nd, stating that unauthorized access to its network occurred between February 9th and April 22nd, 2024.

Stolen data includes sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, financial account details, and government-issued identification documents. DISA is currently notifying affected individuals and offering access to Experian credit monitoring and identity restoration services.

Experts warn that individuals affected should take immediate action to protect themselves. Ian Bednowitz, general manager at LifeLock, recommends placing a credit freeze, regularly monitoring bank and credit card statements, deleting unused accounts, and considering a fraud alert on their credit file. He emphasizes that proactive measures are crucial in mitigating the risks associated with this widespread data breach. “People often feel overwhelmed, but there’s much you can do,” Bednowitz stated. “Freezing your credit is the primary way to prevent identity theft.”

The scale of this breach highlights the growing vulnerability of personal data and underscores the importance of robust cybersecurity measures for companies handling sensitive information. The Attorney General’s offices in Maine and Massachusetts are actively involved in overseeing DISA’s response to the incident.
