Sat Mar 08 13:33:55 UTC 2025: ## Amul to Enter Tamil Nadu Milk Market, Boosting Organic Farming
**Tiruchi, March 8, 2025** – Amul, India’s largest dairy cooperative, announced plans to expand into Tamil Nadu’s milk market, offering a cooperative model to local farmers. The company’s Managing Director, Amit Vyas, revealed this during a press conference in Tiruchi on Saturday.
Amul’s strategy involves establishing a milk processing plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, to facilitate supply to Bengaluru and subsequently to Tamil Nadu. Already selling curd in Chennai, Amul plans to launch its milk products soon. The company is currently procuring approximately 50,000 liters of milk near Vellore, promising fair prices and support services like veterinary care to improve milk production and farmer incomes.
Beyond dairy, Amul is also significantly investing in organic farming. The company will commence production of its organic fertilizers at its Namakkal facility within 10 days, distributing the product – available in powder, granule, and liquid forms – across South India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Amul also intends to procure organic produce from Tamil Nadu farmers for sale under its brand, further promoting organic farming in the region.
