**Palakkad, Kerala – March 8, 2025** – A people’s assembly will be held this Saturday in Elapully, Kerala, to protest the proposed construction of a liquor plant. The Assembly of Christian Trust Services (ACTS) is organizing the demonstration, marking the launch of their campaign against the state government’s liquor policy.
The protest, to be held at the Elapully panchayat junction, will be inaugurated by Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, head of the Malankara Orthodox Church. Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi, general secretary of the Santhigiri Ashram, will preside, and veteran politician and former Speaker V.M. Sudheeran will deliver the keynote address. Joshua Ignathios, chairman of the Kerala Madhya Virudha Janakeeya Munnani, will outline ACTS’ planned actions.
