VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh – University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar stressed the crucial role of youth in achieving the “Viksit Bharat-2047” vision, calling on educators to adapt their teaching methods to nurture their potential. Speaking at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education on Friday, Professor Kumar emphasized the need for teachers to evolve to meet the aspirations of a generation seeking critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
He criticized the traditional, textbook-centric approach to education, advocating for a more experiential learning model aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Professor Kumar urged educators to break down disciplinary boundaries, foster critical thinking, and encourage students to challenge the status quo. He warned that a failure to adapt to the information age and the students’ evolving needs would lead to educators being replaced by AI.
Professor Kumar highlighted the importance of personalized education, leveraging technology to create a level playing field for students with diverse learning abilities. He stressed the need for outcome-based learning and increased opportunities for internships and apprenticeships to provide real-world experience.
Before his address, Professor Kumar laid the foundation stone for new academic buildings and inaugurated a new indoor sports complex at the academy. The event was attended by Siddhartha Academy officials, who praised Professor Kumar’s contributions to education and research.
