**GUWAHATI, INDIA –** YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch on Friday as part of an ongoing investigation into the controversial online show, “India’s Got Latent.” The show, which features several prominent influencers, sparked outrage and legal action after an episode containing explicit and inappropriate content went viral.
The investigation, initiated by a February 10th FIR, alleges that the influencers promoted obscenity, violating sections of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act, and Cinematograph Act. Other YouTubers implicated include Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina. Chanchlani previously gave a statement to the police on February 27th.
The controversy escalated on March 6th when several involved parties, including Allahbadia, Chanchlani, and Makhija, appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in Delhi to provide statements regarding the offensive remarks.
Following the backlash, both Allahbadia and Chanchlani addressed their audiences on social media. Chanchlani, in an Instagram video, expressed gratitude for fan support and acknowledged the challenging situation, while Allahbadia issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter), stating his comment was “inappropriate” and not intended as comedy. He vowed to use his platform more responsibly.
The Supreme Court has since allowed Allahbadia to resume his podcast, “The Ranveer Show,” under conditions ensuring adherence to decency and morality. The Guwahati Police investigation into the “India’s Got Latent” show continues.
