Thu Mar 06 17:59:55 UTC 2025: ## Telangana High Court Halts Land Acquisition for Industrial Park
**Hyderabad, March 6, 2025** – The Telangana High Court has temporarily halted the state government’s plan to acquire nearly 450 acres of land in Vikarabad district for a multi-purpose industrial park. The stay order, issued on Thursday, follows two writ petitions filed by farmers from Lagacharla and Hakimpet villages who oppose the acquisition.
Justice J. Sreenivas Rao issued notices to top government officials, demanding detailed responses regarding the land acquisition process. Petitioners argue the government failed to follow proper procedures outlined in the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, including conducting a social impact assessment and adequately compensating landowners. They also contend that the project doesn’t qualify for land acquisition under Section 10(A) of the Land Acquisition Act, which applies to projects of national security, defence, or irrigation.
While the government claims the industrial park will benefit the surrounding areas, the petitioners, represented by former Advocate General B.S. Prasad and senior counsel V. Raghunath, stated that affected farmers expressed their opposition to the District Collector. The court adjourned the hearing until March 21.
