Fri Mar 07 13:00:00 UTC 2025: ## DISA Unveils New Data Strategy Focused on Cybersecurity and AI

**ARLINGTON, VA –** The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has released its Fiscal Years 2025-2027 Data Strategy, outlining a plan to bolster cybersecurity, optimize its network, and leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to better support military operations. The strategy focuses on three key areas: strengthening data architecture and governance, integrating advanced analytics, and fostering a data-centric culture.

DISA’s Chief Data Officer, Caroline Kuharske, called the strategy a “pivotal moment,” emphasizing that improved data governance, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making will enhance operational capabilities and drive innovation.

The strategy includes initiatives such as implementing data tagging and metadata management, adopting data classification standards, developing an application programming interface (API) registry, and enforcing zero-trust security architecture. Furthermore, DISA will accelerate AI and machine learning adoption, improve data literacy through training, and embed data stewardship roles within its workforce.

By leveraging advanced analytics, the agency aims to transform raw data into actionable intelligence, creating a competitive advantage and informing strategic decisions. The goal is to create a more agile, secure, and mission-focused agency in an increasingly data-driven world.
