**Bengaluru, March 7, 2025** – The Bengaluru police force is undergoing a significant restructuring and expansion, receiving a substantial ₹435 crore investment from the Karnataka state government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the allocation, aimed at enhancing security and addressing the growing challenges of cybercrime and narcotics.
Key improvements include:
* **Expanded Police Divisions:** The city’s police jurisdiction is expanding from eight to eleven divisions to better manage the sprawling metropolis and address uneven workload distribution among existing divisions.
* **Cybercrime and Narcotics Funding:** A ₹5 crore grant has been allocated to the cybercrime division to combat the rising number of cybercrime and narcotics cases.
* **Enhanced Bomb Squads:** Four new bomb detection and disposal squads will be established in Ballari, Davangere, Mysuru, and Bengaluru Central Zones.
* **Improved Welfare for Personnel:** The annual health check-up allowance for police personnel has been increased from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500, and the daily food allowance for officers on special duty has risen from ₹200 to ₹300.
* **New Reserve Battalions:** Two new Indian Reserve Battalions will be established near Nandi Hills and in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), with an ₹80 crore investment.
* **Housing Initiative:** Under the ‘Police Gruha-2025’ scheme, ₹300 crore will be used to construct residential quarters for police personnel.
* **Increased Ex-Gratia for Home Guards:** The ex-gratia payment for the families of deceased home guards and civil defence volunteers has been doubled from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
