**Chennai, March 6, 2025** – The Tambaram Corporation announced a significant investment in infrastructure development projects at its first Budget Council meeting of the year. Over 70 resolutions were passed, totaling hundreds of crores of rupees, focusing on improving infrastructure, enhancing public spaces, and addressing traffic congestion.
Key projects include:
* **Infrastructure Upgrades:** ₹40 crore allocated for road relaying across various localities; ₹12 crore for modern bus shelters on GST Road and other arterial roads; and ₹10 crore for a multi-storey parking facility on GST Road to alleviate traffic congestion.
* **Waterbody Rejuvenation:** ₹27.6 crore earmarked for the rejuvenation of several waterbodies, including Pallavaram Periya Eri and Thiruneermalai lake, to increase water storage and expand the piped drinking water network.
* **Sports and Recreation:** ₹4 crore allocated for the construction of modern sports playgrounds across five zones. Further development includes a renovated Chitlapakkam lake with boat rides and a facelifted children’s park featuring a food court and play area. The corporation also plans to establish “Pink Parks” exclusively for women.
* **Green Initiatives:** A ₹3 crore solar energy plant will be constructed at the new Tambaram Corporation office building.
* **Other Developments:** Construction of new libraries, a food street, and improved public facilities are also planned.
The expansion of the Tambaram Corporation, which will soon incorporate 15 more village panchayats, underscores the scale of these ambitious plans. Mayor Vasanthakumari Kamalakannan, Commissioner S. Balachander, and Deputy Mayor G. Kamaraj were present at the meeting.
