**COIMBATORE, March 6, 2025** – The 13th edition of Yugam, a three-day inter-college techno-cultural-sports festival at Kumaraguru Institutions in Coimbatore, kicked off Thursday. The event, featuring over 100 competitions across various disciplines, was inaugurated by Jagdish Bakan, District Forest Officer and Wildlife Warden of Hosur.
Mr. Bakan’s inaugural address focused on biodiversity, climate change, and the importance of sustainable practices. He highlighted conservation efforts in the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve and global initiatives like Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), urging students to utilize technology for environmental action.
A key highlight of the festival’s opening day was the Inspire India Youth Conclave (IIYC), which hosted 16 speakers including *The Hindu*’s International Affairs Editor Stanly Johny, renowned film critic Baradwaj Rangan, and Everest summiteer Sangeeta Sindhi Bahl. The conclave included panel discussions and a Q&A session, encouraging youth engagement in driving positive change. The festival continues through the weekend.
