Thu Mar 06 10:22:53 UTC 2025: ## Woman Ferry Pilot Highlights Gender Inequality in Aviation
**New Delhi, March 6, 2025** – Fanni Pajer, a 48-year-old Austrian ferry pilot, has highlighted the unique challenges women face in the male-dominated aviation industry. Speaking at a gathering of The Ninety Nines Inc., an organization for women pilots, Pajer detailed the lack of adequate facilities for women pilots, particularly during long-haul flights.
Pajer, who delivers small aircraft for Diamond Aircraft worldwide, often makes multiple stops during flights, sometimes landing at airstrips with minimal facilities, including restrooms. She described improvising with portable urination devices and jars due to the absence of appropriate facilities in cockpits and hangars. She also recounted experiences with inadequate or absent restrooms at airports, even encountering a “VIP toilet” that was merely a sandpit.
Beyond restroom issues, Pajer pointed out the lack of consideration for female body types in pilot gear. She cited examples of plastic bags designed for male pilots, and survival suits unsuitable for women’s bodies, calling them designed for “stick figures” rather than women’s anatomy.
Pajer’s anecdotes, shared with over 100 women pilots gathered in Delhi, served to emphasize the need for greater inclusivity and empathy within the aviation sector. She hopes her experiences, documented in her blog and on Instagram, will inspire more women to pursue careers in aviation and promote workplace changes to better accommodate female pilots.
