**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh –** A. Ramarao, Additional Project Director of Samagra Siksha, has been awarded a 10-year patent for a novel irrigation pump. The polymer pulley-driven centrifugal pump, developed with the support of N.G. Ranga University and the Central Institute of Tool Design, offers a cost-effective and energy-saving alternative for farmers. Successful field tests in Palakollu and Rajamahendravaram have demonstrated its effectiveness in various weather conditions. The lightweight design makes it a practical solution for agricultural irrigation. The patent was granted by the Union government’s Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
