**New Delhi, March 6, 2025** – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced the arrest of Raviraj Kumar, a Gurugram resident, for impersonating a senior ED officer and extorting money from unsuspecting individuals. Kumar was apprehended under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following an investigation into his fraudulent activities.

According to the ED, Kumar, a known habitual offender, used multiple SIM cards to conceal his identity while posing as a senior ED official. He threatened victims, including a Gurugram-based builder, with dire consequences to extort money. A preliminary investigation of one of Kumar’s bank accounts revealed approximately ₹80 lakh in illicit funds obtained through this scheme.

Kumar was initially arrested by Haryana Police after a complaint was filed at the Sector 10 police station in Gurugram. The ED subsequently took cognizance of the FIR and launched its own investigation, leading to his arrest and a five-day remand granted by a Gurugram court. The ED is continuing its investigation into the extent of Kumar’s criminal activities and the number of victims involved.
