**Salem, March 6, 2025** – The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Salem arrested a municipality bill collector, Gunasekaran (39), on Wednesday evening for accepting a bribe. Gunasekaran, a resident of Mandaveli in Attur and employed by the Narasingapuram Municipality, demanded ₹40,000 from a resident, Ramasamy, to alter his property tax assessment. After Ramasamy reported the demand to the DVAC, officials set a trap. Ramasamy handed over ₹25,000 to Gunasekaran near the Attur Taluk Milk Producers Cooperative Society, at which point DVAC officials apprehended him. A case has been registered, and Gunasekaran has been remanded.
