**Mysuru, March 6, 2025** – Elaborate preparations are underway for the upcoming Vairamudi Utsava at the Sri Cheluvarayaswamy Temple in Melkote, Mandya district, scheduled for April 7th. Deputy Commissioner Kumara, presiding over a meeting on March 6th, directed officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities, expecting a large turnout of devotees.
The festival will feature rituals from April 2nd to 14th. To accommodate the influx of pilgrims, the administration plans to:
* Establish committees for efficient event management.
* Ensure clean drinking water through regular testing and strategically placed water taps.
* Install CCTV cameras (₹19 lakh budget approved) for enhanced security, monitored from the temple executive officer’s office.
* Maintain hygiene by regularly cleaning the temple premises and spraying water on roads to control dust.
* Identify suitable land for parking and set up temporary toilets.
* Repair roads leading to Melkote.
* Deploy a three-shift medical team for the Vairamudi Utsava day.
* Install signage at road curves and humps for improved road safety.
