Tue Mar 04 03:00:00 UTC 2025: **Sacramento State Women’s Basketball Team to Honor Seniors in Final Home Game**
**SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 2, 2025)** – The Sacramento State women’s basketball team will conclude its regular season and say farewell to The Nest, its home court for 70 years, on Monday, March 3, at 6:30 p.m. The Hornets will face off against Portland State in a game that holds significant sentimental value.
Before tip-off, a pregame ceremony will honor seniors Katie Peneueta and Jaydia Martin for their contributions to the program. The Nest, built in 1955, is one of the oldest and smallest Division I facilities, seating only 1,012 fans. Next season, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will relocate to The WELL, a newly renovated on-campus facility.
The Hornets (13-17, 6-11 Big Sky) enter the game on a high after defeating Montana State, while Portland State (4-22, 1-16 Big Sky) is on a 13-game losing streak. Despite Portland State’s overall record, the all-time series between the two teams is closely contested, with Portland State holding a slight edge at 34-26. However, Sacramento State has won seven of the last eight meetings.
The game will feature a spotlight on Hornet junior guard Benthe Versteeg, who recently achieved the program’s first-ever triple-double against Montana, adding to her impressive season of record-breaking assists. Other key players to watch include Peneueta and Martin, who have both demonstrated strong recent performances, showcasing their skills and scoring prowess. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
