KASARAGOD, KERALA—Three people died and one was seriously injured in a car accident late Monday night in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The victims, identified as Janaradhana (58), his son Arun, and their relative Krishna Kumar (23), were traveling from Kasaragod to Mangaluru when their car crashed into a divider near Hosangadi at approximately 10 pm. The fourth occupant, Rathan, is receiving treatment for serious injuries at a Mangaluru hospital.
Police attribute the accident to speeding, but local residents also cite faulty highway construction and a lack of adequate warning signs as contributing factors. The accident occurred near an Excise checkpost, a location residents say has seen previous accidents. The car was severely damaged in the impact.
