**New Delhi, March 4, 2025** – The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Telangana state government, the Legislative Assembly Speaker, the Election Commission of India, and other respondents in a case concerning the disqualification of 10 MLAs who defected from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the ruling Congress party.

The petition, filed by BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and Padi Koushik Reddy, seeks timely action on the disqualification petitions. The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for March 25th, listing the case as the first item on the agenda. The court has requested responses from the state government, the Speaker’s office, the Telangana Legislative Assembly Secretary, the Election Commission, and the defected MLAs before the next hearing.

The petitions encompass two separate but related cases: one challenging a November 2024 Telangana High Court order regarding the disqualification of three BRS MLAs, and another concerning the remaining seven defectors.
