**CHENNAI, March 4, 2025** – A 19-year-old man from Rajasthan has been arrested by Chennai police for allegedly murdering his father. Rohit Sangla, 19, and his father, Jagadish Sangla, 42, were both employed at a sweet-making unit in the city’s Seven Wells area.
According to police, the incident stemmed from a conflict triggered by Jagadish’s alleged physical abuse of his wife. After receiving a call from his mother detailing the abuse, and angered over his father’s alleged withholding of his salary, Rohit attacked Jagadish with an iron rod while he slept on Sunday night.
Rohit subsequently contacted a relative, informing them of his father’s death and sending a video of the body before attempting to flee to Rajasthan. The relative alerted the Seven Wells police, who swiftly apprehended Rohit at the central railway station. Police recovered the body and have formally charged Rohit with murder. The investigation is ongoing.
