Mon Mar 03 14:40:00 UTC 2025: ## NorthEast United FC Clinches Playoff Spot with 3-0 Victory Over Chennaiyin FC

**Chennai, March 3, 2025** – NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) secured their place in the Indian Super League (ISL) playoffs with a resounding 3-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC at the Nehru Stadium on Monday. All three goals were scored in the first half, showcasing a dominant performance from the visitors.

NEUFC, needing a win to qualify, attacked relentlessly from the kickoff. Winger Thoi’s tireless efforts created numerous chances, with striker Jithin playing a key role in the attack. The first goal came from Nestor Albiach, a stunning left-footed strike from outside the box that left Chennaiyin’s goalkeeper, Md. Nawaz, with no chance.

Chennaiyin, despite having some early opportunities, failed to capitalize on their gilt-edged chances. Connor Shields’ weak shot and Wilmar Jordan’s curling effort were both thwarted by NEUFC goalkeeper Gurmeet.

NEUFC continued their offensive pressure, with Jithin scoring the second goal following a clever one-two with Ajaraie. Ajaraie then added the third, assisted by Jithin, effectively sealing the victory.

Despite playing with ten men for the final ten minutes after Ryan Edwards’ red card, Chennaiyin were unable to mount a significant comeback. The match ended with a decisive 3-0 win for NorthEast United FC, securing their playoff berth with 35 points.
