AMARAVATI/GUNTUR/VISAKHAPATNAM – The ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh has secured a resounding victory in the recently concluded MLC elections, preliminary results reveal. The coalition candidate, Alapaati Rajendra Prasad, achieved a landslide win in the Krishna-Guntur Graduates constituency, surpassing the magic number of votes in the seventh round of counting, securing over 118,070 votes. He had a commanding lead of 67,252 votes over his nearest rival by the early hours of Tuesday.

In the Uttar Andhra Teachers constituency, Gade Srinivasa Naidu, representing the PRTU, emerged victorious over a close contest with the APTF candidate, Pakalapati Raghuram. Naidu secured 12,035 votes against the magic figure of 10,068. The counting process, initially suspenseful, involved multiple elimination rounds.

Meanwhile, in the combined East Godavari-West Godavari Graduates constituency, the coalition candidate, Perabathula Rajasekhara, secured a lead in the first round of counting, suggesting a strong coalition performance in both graduate seats.

The counting process for the Krishna-Guntur Graduates constituency, involving 25 candidates and postal ballots, was time-consuming, with officials stating it would conclude on Tuesday morning.
