Tue Mar 04 00:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Veteran Broadcaster Mike Tirico Returns to NBA Play-by-Play for Two Games
**Stamford, CT – March 3, 2025** – Mike Tirico, NBC Sports’ upcoming lead NBA play-by-play announcer, is making a highly anticipated return to the hardwood this week. After a nearly decade-long hiatus, Tirico will call two NBA games for NBC Sports Regional Networks.
Tonight, he’ll be behind the mic for the Philadelphia 76ers vs. the Portland Trail Blazers game airing at 7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Philadelphia. He’ll then call the Boston Celtics versus Portland Trail Blazers game on Wednesday, March 5th, at 7 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston. This marks Tirico’s first NBA play-by-play assignment since 2016.
Tirico, who boasts extensive NBA experience from his time at ESPN (2002-2016), expressed his excitement about the opportunity. “What a fun opportunity to get a little run in before we get started next fall,” he stated. He’ll be working alongside local analysts and reporters in both cities.
This temporary return is a prelude to Tirico’s official role as NBC Sports’ lead NBA play-by-play voice, commencing with the 2025-26 season this October. NBC Sports has also announced Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller as game analysts and Noah Eagle as a play-by-play commentator for their upcoming NBA coverage. The network secured an 11-year agreement with the NBA in July 2024 to broadcast regular season and playoff games across various platforms, including Peacock.
