Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India – A 19-year-old man, identified as Abdul Rehman from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested in connection with a foiled terrorist plot targeting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Rehman, who reportedly ran a meat shop and auto rickshaw business, was apprehended Sunday night in a joint operation by Gujarat and Haryana police, following intelligence from central security agencies.

Authorities allege Rehman was directed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to detonate at least two hand grenades at the temple. He had allegedly conducted reconnaissance missions around the Ram Temple and shared information with the ISI. Rehman was reportedly planning to collect the grenades from a handler in Faridabad, Haryana, before traveling to Ayodhya by train.

The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) acted on intelligence, arresting Rehman and recovering two hand grenades hidden near Faridabad. The explosives have been defused. Rehman has been remanded to 10 days of police custody. He is being interrogated in Gujarat, and the ATS operation is ongoing.

Further investigation has revealed possible links to an unidentified Pakistani ISI operative, with an alias of Ishika Kapoor, and a Rahul Singh, who resides in Balia, Uttar Pradesh. Singh’s phone has been confiscated, and he is being questioned. Authorities are also raiding locations in Balia, suggesting the existence of additional operatives or cells. The investigation is ongoing.
