Tue Mar 04 10:33:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Police Arrest Man Posing as RAW Agent, Duping Job Seekers

**Bengaluru, March 4, 2025** – The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested Venugopal K., an M.Com graduate, for allegedly duping at least 38 job seekers by posing as a special officer of a prominent Indian intelligence agency. Venugopal, operating with an associate, Arvind Naidu, promised “field officer” positions and collected fees ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹10 lakh per victim.

The scam involved creating fake appointment letters and ID cards, complete with forged government seals. Victims were initially paid a salary but later had their contact cut off after the accused disappeared with their money. One victim, a former government employee, lost ₹17 lakh attempting to secure jobs for family members.

The police investigation began after the arrest of Arvind Naidu, who ran a photocopy shop and helped Venugopal identify potential victims. Naidu initially received a 50% commission but later claimed to be a victim himself.

The seized materials included fake documents, ID cards, and government seals used in the fraudulent scheme. The arrest is a result of a complaint lodged by a victim. The police are investigating the extent of the fraud and are warning citizens to be wary of such scams.
