**Hyderabad, March 4, 2025** – The Khammam district in Telangana has emerged as the top performer in drug enforcement in the state, seizing marijuana worth ₹11 crore (approximately $1.3 million USD) over the past year. This represents a significant portion of the state’s total marijuana seizure of approximately 6,000 kilograms in 2024.
According to an official release, Khammam Excise officers confiscated 2,225 kilograms of marijuana through 35 cases registered between 2024 and February 25, 2025. The successful operations involved multiple excise teams across the district, leading to the seizure of 11 vehicles used in drug transportation.
In recognition of their outstanding work, Excise Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy presented certificates and cash rewards to Khammam Excise officials, ranging from constables to senior officers, in Hyderabad on Sunday. The achievement highlights the significant efforts undertaken by the Khammam Excise Department in combating drug trafficking within Telangana.
