Tue Mar 04 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Mets Lose Veteran Pitcher Quintana to Brewers

**NEW YORK** – The New York Mets will be without veteran left-hander José Quintana this season, as the pitcher has signed a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The news, confirmed Monday by The Post’s Jon Heyman, comes as a blow to a Mets rotation already depleted by injuries.

Quintana, 36, spent the past two seasons with the Mets, posting a 3.75 ERA in 2023. His strong performance, including impressive playoff appearances, made him a valuable asset. However, the team’s recent injury woes have altered their pitching plans.

Starters Justin Verlander and Carlos Carrasco have left the Mets in free agency. The Mets made significant offseason moves to bolster their rotation, signing Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes to multi-year deals, and re-signing Sean Manaea. However, both Montas (lat strain) and Manaea (oblique strain) are currently injured, with projected returns of mid-May and mid-to-late April respectively. These injuries, coupled with Quintana’s departure, leave the Mets with a thinner rotation than anticipated.

The team will now rely on Kodai Senga, David Peterson, and Clay Holmes, with Tylor Megill, Paul Blackburn, and offseason signing Griffin Canning also vying for spots. The Mets’ rotation depth will be severely tested early in the season.
