Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (March 4, 2025) – The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans for a spectacular Godavari Pushkaralu festival in 2027, aiming to rival the Maha Kumbh Mela. The event, scheduled for July 23 to August 3, 2027, was confirmed by Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu in the Legislative Assembly.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu envisions a grand celebration and has directed relevant departments to begin preparations immediately. A preparatory meeting was recently held in Rajahmundry to address logistical and infrastructural needs.
The 2015 Pushkaralu served as a blueprint, with 307 projects completed at a cost of ₹117 crore. This year’s efforts will involve the Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Home, Endowments, Municipal Administration, R&B, Fisheries, Civil Supplies, and Tourism departments. The Irrigation Department will manage ghat construction and water systems, while the Panchayat Raj Department will oversee maintenance.
MLAs have raised suggestions for improvements, including the permanent construction of the Kotilingala Revu Ghat and extending the celebrations to the Konaseema region to better manage crowds. Road repairs and infrastructure projects in various towns along the Godavari River are also planned. The government is committed to ensuring a successful and prestigious Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027.
