Tue Mar 04 10:43:11 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Assembly Accused of Bias in TV Coverage

**Bengaluru, March 4, 2025** – The ruling Congress party in the Karnataka Assembly is facing accusations of bias in its television coverage of legislative proceedings. Opposition BJP and JD(S) members allege that Assembly TV cameras are selectively focusing on ruling party members, effectively “blacking out” the opposition.

Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashok, raised concerns on March 4th, stating that the Assembly TV, a public resource, should provide unbiased coverage of all proceedings. He criticized the alleged selective focusing on Congress members and Speaker U.T. Khader. Opposition members further claim that Information and Publicity Department employees are acting on the Speaker’s instructions.

Speaker Khader denied giving any such directions to camerapersons. Following a protest by the opposition, the House was adjourned for 10 minutes to allow the Speaker to discuss the matter with the technical crew. The incident highlights concerns over transparency and fair representation in the state legislature’s media coverage.
