**Los Angeles, CA** – Netflix’s new basketball comedy, “Running Point,” has taken the streaming world by storm, debuting at number one on the US charts within 24 hours of its release. Loosely inspired by the Los Angeles Lakers and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, the 10-episode series follows the Gordon family, owners of the fictional L.A. Waves basketball franchise.

The show centers on Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson), unexpectedly thrust into the role of team president after her brother Cam (Justin Theroux) enters rehab following a car accident. Isla, often sidelined in her family’s competitive dynamic, must navigate the male-dominated world of professional basketball, proving her worth to her skeptical brothers, the team’s board, and the public.

Supporting Isla is a star-studded cast including Brenda Song as her chief of staff, Ali Lee; Drew Tarver as Sandy Gordon, the team’s CFO and Isla’s brother; and Scott MacArthur as Ness Gordon, the general manager with a controversial past. The ensemble also features several recognizable faces including Toby Sandeman as star player Marcus Winfield, Chet Hanks as troubled point guard Travis Bugg, and Max Greenfield as Isla’s supportive fiancé. Jay Ellis plays the calm and collected head coach, Jay Brown. Fabrizio Guido rounds out the key players as Jackie Moreno, a loyal Waves employee who finds himself unexpectedly drawn into the family’s inner circle.

“Running Point” offers a blend of family drama, sports comedy, and the high-stakes world of professional basketball. The series is now streaming on Netflix.
