Fri Feb 28 19:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Raptors Waive Veteran Forward P.J. Tucker

**Toronto, ON -** The Toronto Raptors have waived veteran forward P.J. Tucker, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The 39-year-old Tucker, who hasn’t played this season, was traded twice before the deadline, first from the Clippers to the Jazz, and then to Toronto as part of a five-team trade involving Jimmy Butler.

Tucker, who is in the final year of his contract, will be eligible for the postseason if he signs with another team before the March 1st deadline. His $11.54 million salary falls below the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, making him a free agent able to sign with any team except Utah, his previous team, for at least one year.

Despite limited playing time in the last two seasons, Tucker’s playoff experience and defensive skills make him an attractive option for contending teams. While there was speculation he might agree to a contract buyout, Charania’s report indicates this wasn’t the case. Tucker’s availability has sparked interest from several teams, though a reunion with the Heat is unlikely due to roster constraints.
