Fri Feb 28 16:12:10 UTC 2025: ## Puducherry to Develop 750 Acres for Industrial Growth, Boosting Employment

**Puducherry, February 28, 2025** – The Puducherry government announced plans to allocate approximately 750 acres of land in Sedarapet-Karasur villages for industrial development by July, aiming to create jobs and stimulate the local economy. This initiative, revealed by Home and Industries Minister A. Namassivayam, is part of a broader effort to foster entrepreneurship and reduce the outflow of graduates seeking employment in neighboring states.

The announcement was made during the launch of “Puduvai Startup Sprint 2025,” organized by the Atal Incubation Centre-PEC Foundation. Minister Namassivayam emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting startups, citing the center’s success in training 4,500 students since its inception in 2019 and the existence of around 70 startups currently employing 425 people. He highlighted the significant number of graduates leaving Puducherry for jobs in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, a trend the government intends to reverse.

The plan involves encouraging private sector investment and providing space for startups in the newly developed industrial zone in Sedarapet. The government also stressed the importance of improving students’ soft skills to enhance their employability. The Minister launched a logo for a women’s entrepreneurship program and the AIC website at the event.
