**Chennai, March 1, 2025** – A two-day national research and development fair, IInvenTiv 2025, opened Friday at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), showcasing over 180 exhibits from 39 institutions. The fair features cutting-edge research and technologies ready for commercialization across various sectors, including defense, health, water, sanitation, construction, and transport safety.
Approximately 200 stalls represent 86 top-ranked NIRF institutions. Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, who inaugurated the event, expressed confidence that IInvenTiv will become a leading brand in the innovation sector. He also released a coffee table book highlighting impactful technological innovations from Indian higher education institutions.
In a pre-recorded message, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan lauded Tamil Nadu’s history of innovation and entrepreneurship, noting India’s emergence as the third-largest startup ecosystem with a valuation exceeding USD 354 million. He extended an invitation to international partners to collaborate on research and startup opportunities.
IIT Madras director V. Kamakoti emphasized the fair’s role in facilitating technology transfer and attracting investment, contributing to India’s self-reliance goals. The event provides a platform for industry leaders to explore technology transfer and for investors to identify opportunities for funding and future collaborations.
