**HYDERABAD, February 28, 2025** – Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated “Vigyan Vaibhav 2025,” a major science and technology exhibition, in Hyderabad today, celebrating National Science Day. The event, attended by over 18,000 students and featuring 200 stalls showcasing DRDO innovations, highlighted India’s technological advancements.

Minister Singh emphasized India’s transformation from a technology-scarce nation to a global leader, citing the success of the Green Revolution and the booming digital transaction sector (171 billion UPI transactions in 2024). He stressed the importance of continued innovation in AI, quantum computing, and cyber warfare, predicting a shift towards software-driven conflict. The National Education Policy 2020 was also highlighted for its role in fostering a stronger scientific mindset.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy championed the state’s contributions to India’s defence sector and urged the Defence Minister to declare Hyderabad and Bengaluru a Defence Corridor to retain the state’s large pool of engineering talent. He highlighted the annual graduation of 1.1 lakh engineers in Telangana, many of whom currently seek opportunities abroad.

The exhibition, a joint venture of the DRDO, Aeronautical Society of India, and Kalam Institute of Youth Excellence (KIYE), will remain open to the public on March 1st and 2nd. The event underscored India’s commitment to leveraging technology for national progress and its growing prominence in the global scientific community.
