Fri Feb 28 19:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Amateur Golfer on Verge of PGA Tour Membership
**Palm Beach Gardens, FL** – Luke Clanton, a 21-year-old amateur golfer and Florida State University junior, has the chance to secure a PGA Tour card this week at the Cognizant Classic. A strong performance, specifically making the cut, would grant him full membership.
Despite the high stakes, Clanton remains remarkably composed. “Pressure is kind of a word I don’t like to use,” he stated Wednesday. His calm demeanor is backed by impressive results. Last year, he achieved consecutive top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, a feat unmatched by an amateur since 1958. He also tied for 41st at the U.S. Open and secured a fifth-place finish at the Wyndham Championship.
While he’s had a couple of missed cuts earlier this year, Clanton maintains a focused approach. He attributes a recent missed cut to getting ahead of himself, but views it as a valuable learning experience. “I’m trying to flip that mindset from just making the cut to actually trying to compete in this event,” he explained.
Playing on the familiar PGA National Champion Course (where he estimates he’s played 40 times), Clanton expresses excitement but avoids overconfidence. “I’m excited to play the best golf I can,” he said. “If it’s my time, it’s my time, but we’ll see.” A successful weekend could mark a significant turning point in his golfing career.
