Fri Feb 28 12:59:29 UTC 2025: **Tragedy Strikes in Kottayam: Mother and Two Daughters Killed by Train**

KOTTAYAM, KERALA – A 42-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged 11 and 10, died after being struck by a train near Kottayam on Friday morning. Police believe the trio, identified as Shiny Kuriakose and her daughters Aleena and Ivana, jumped onto the tracks in a suspected suicide attempt. The incident occurred around 5:30 AM when the Kottayam-Nilambur Road Express hit them. The impact severely mutilated the bodies, making identification difficult.

Preliminary investigations indicate a family dispute may have been the cause. Shiny had been living separately from her husband, Noby, for the past nine months. She left home Friday morning with her daughters under the pretense of going to church. Their son, Edwin, attends a sports school in Ernakulam.

A case of unnatural death has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Authorities urge anyone experiencing distress or suicidal thoughts to seek help by contacting DISHA (1056, 0471-2552056) or the state’s 24-hour helpline (104).
