**Patna, Bihar –** Uncertainty looms over the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, with the BJP delaying a decision. Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal stated on Friday that the party’s parliamentary board will determine the candidate, confirming that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will contest under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

This announcement follows comments from Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, urging the NDA to declare his father as the CM candidate before the election. Jaiswal’s statement, while reaffirming Kumar’s leadership in the NDA, has been met with mixed reactions, particularly given Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bihar, where he only referred to Kumar as the “beloved” CM without explicitly endorsing his continued leadership.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD predicted the end of Kumar’s tenure as Chief Minister, claiming the JD(U) is on the verge of collapse due to internal dealings with the BJP. Yadav criticized Kumar’s 20-year rule, attributing Bihar’s underdevelopment to a lack of vision and roadmap. The 243-seat Bihar Assembly election is scheduled for later this year.
