**Bhubaneswar, Odisha, February 28, 2025** – Renowned Odia actor Uttam Mohanty passed away on Thursday night at a private hospital in Delhi, his family announced. He was 66. Mohanty had been battling acute liver ailments and was airlifted to Delhi from Bhubaneswar on February 8th for treatment.

Mohanty, known for his prolific career spanning over 130 Odia films and approximately 30 Bengali films, leaves behind a significant legacy in the Odia film industry. His notable performances include roles in films such as *Nijhum Ratira Sathi*, *Phula Chandana*, *Jhiati Sita Pari*, and *Danda Balunga*. He also appeared in a Hindi film, *Naya Zaher*, and several television serials.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his deep sorrow at Mohanty’s passing, stating that his contribution to Odia cinema will be remembered. The Chief Minister ordered that Mohanty’s last rites be conducted with full state honors. He is survived by his wife, acclaimed actress Aparajita Mohanty, and son, Odia cine star Babushan.
