**Thanjavur, Feb 28, 2025** – Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K. Radhakrishnan has emphasized the crucial role of empowered youth in achieving the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision. Speaking at the National Science Day celebrations at SASTRA University in Thirumalaisamudhram, Dr. Radhakrishnan stressed the need to translate scientific knowledge into economic wealth through a strong innovation ecosystem and the creation of indigenous Intellectual Property (IP). He highlighted power and confidence as key factors in achieving this ambitious goal.

The event also saw the presentation of prestigious SASTRA awards to several eminent scientists. Recipients included M. Palaniandavar (Bharathidasan University), Tarun Souradeep (Raman Research Institute), N.G. Prasad (IISER Mohali), and B. Mahadevan (IIMB), each receiving a plaque and ₹5 lakh. Prof. Uma Ramakrishnan (NCBS) was awarded the SASTRA-Obaid Siddiqi Award for 2024.

Meanwhile, the “SPARGERE-25” event at the Central University of Tamil Nadu focused on empowering Indian youth for global leadership in science and innovation. The event included various student activities designed to foster scientific curiosity and innovation.
