Fri Feb 28 14:40:00 UTC 2025: ## NASCAR Xfinity Series to Debut New COTA Track Layout Friday
**AUSTIN, TX** – NASCAR fans are in for a treat this Friday as the Xfinity Series takes to a newly configured track at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. The series will debut a shortened, 2.4-mile, 20-turn “National” course designed specifically for stock cars. This new layout reduces the traditional Formula One circuit by approximately one mile and is expected to cut lap times by roughly a minute.
The action begins at 5 p.m. ET with Xfinity practice, immediately followed by qualifying around 6 p.m. ET. Fans can catch all the action live on the CW streaming app. The IMSA-sanctioned VP Racing SportsCar Challenge will also be holding practice and qualifying sessions at COTA on Friday.
Favorable weather is predicted for the event, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, and only a 2% chance of rain.
