**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh** – The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, a 45-day religious festival drawing millions, concluded Wednesday in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This year’s event broke records, with an estimated 660 million devotees – double the US population – taking a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. The gathering attracted prominent figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Chief Ministers, prominent business leaders, Bollywood celebrities, and diplomats from 77 countries. Coldplay’s Chris Martin was also in attendance.

The next Kumbh Mela is scheduled for Nashik, Maharashtra, from July 17 to August 17, 2027. It will be held at Trimbakeshwar, on the banks of the Godavari River. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced plans to incorporate cutting-edge technology into the event, including virtual reality experiences for those unable to attend in person.

Kumbh Melas are rotated between four cities – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain – with at least one held every three years. The frequency varies, with the “Kumbh Mela” occurring every four years, “Ardh Kumbh Mela” every six, and the “Purna Kumbh Mela” every twelve. The Maha Kumbh Mela, the largest, occurs less frequently.
