Thu Feb 27 19:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Real Housewives Star Karen Huger Sentenced to Prison for DUI

**Potomac, MD** – Karen Huger, a longtime cast member of the Bravo reality show “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” was sentenced to one year in prison on Wednesday following a December conviction on multiple driving charges. The sentence, stemming from a March 2024 DUI arrest in Potomac, Maryland, includes an additional year suspended. Huger was also fined $2,900 and faces a year-long driving ban upon release, along with five years of supervised probation including an interlock device.

Huger was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired, negligent driving, and other related offenses. Body camera footage from the arrest showed Huger exhibiting signs of intoxication, refusing to provide her license, and claiming she had been drinking. She was acquitted of reckless driving.

The arrest and subsequent legal proceedings were heavily featured in the latest season of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” though Huger did not discuss the specifics of the case on camera. The show frequently depicts alcohol consumption at social gatherings, but this season notably avoided showing Huger drinking. Earlier this year, Huger voluntarily entered a treatment facility for “taking antidepressants and drinking,” her manager confirmed. This was not her first alcohol-related offense; she has prior DUI convictions, most recently in 2011.

Huger’s manager, Ryan Tresdale, released a statement in January expressing support for her decision to seek treatment and described her participation as a “meaningful journey” and a “significant step forward.” Huger’s legal troubles have cast a shadow over her public image as the “Grande Dame of Potomac.”
