**Kalaburagi, Karnataka, February 28, 2025** – A major inter-state fake degree certificate racket has been busted by the Kalaburagi City Police and the Cybercrime, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) police. The operation culminated in the arrest of the kingpin, Rajiv Singh Arora, in Delhi on February 18th.

Arora, a Delhi native, had been operating the racket for eight years, creating fraudulent marks cards for 28 universities across India, including prestigious institutions in Karnataka like Bangalore University and Mysore University. Police seized a significant amount of incriminating evidence during the arrest, including 522 fake marks cards, 1,626 blank marks cards, 122 fake university seals, 123 blank ID cards, 403 fake hologram stickers, computers, mobile phones, and ₹1.2 lakhs in cash.

The investigation, which began with a five-year-old case in Kalaburagi, led authorities to Arora through a trail of co-accused in Davangere and Bengaluru. Arora allegedly sold each fake certificate for ₹20,000 to ₹50,000, though the exact number of certificates sold remains unknown.

Police Commissioner Sharnappa S. Dhage lauded the efforts of the investigating team, highlighting the significant blow dealt to the fraudulent operation. The arrest and seizure represent a major victory in the fight against educational fraud.
