Fri Feb 28 15:30:14 UTC 2025: ## Mysuru Hoteliers Threaten Tax Revolt Over Unlicensed Food Vendors
**Mysuru, February 28, 2025** – The Hotel Owners’ Association of Mysuru has issued an ultimatum to local authorities, threatening a mass tax boycott if action isn’t taken against unlicensed street food vendors. Association president C. Narayana Gowda claims over 3,000 vendors have sprung up across the city in the last six months, operating without licenses or paying taxes, unlike established hotels which adhere to all regulations.
Gowda argues that these unlicensed vendors are not only impacting the city’s aesthetic appeal and tourism, but also creating unfair competition. He alleges that the vendors’ activities are illegal and urged authorities to relocate them to designated food zones.
The association’s statement, released Friday, names Mysuru district Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, MLAs, and health officers as recipients of their complaint. Gowda warned that if the authorities fail to address the issue, hoteliers will retaliate by setting up their own unlicensed food carts outside their establishments, refusing to pay any taxes.
