Fri Feb 28 08:53:36 UTC 2025: ## Leopard Captured on RBI Campus in Mysuru After Three-Week Search
**Mysuru, Karnataka, February 28, 2025** – A male leopard, which had evaded capture for nearly three weeks, was finally trapped on the campus of the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL) in Mysuru early this morning. The BRBNMPL is a subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) responsible for printing Indian currency.
The leopard’s presence was first detected in the second week of February, prompting a 30-member Forest Department team, including the Leopard Task Force, to initiate a search operation. While the operation was initially kept confidential, the animal’s movements were captured by CCTV cameras, alerting security personnel and leading to public disclosure.
After a twenty-day search utilizing strategically placed cages, the leopard was successfully captured around 4 a.m. today. Wildlife veterinarians are currently assessing the animal’s health to determine its suitability for release back into the wild, according to Deputy Conservator of Forest Prabhu Gowda.
This marks the second leopard incident in Mysuru in the past two months. A previous incident involved a leopard evading capture for over a month at the Infosys campus. While this capture represents a success for the Forest Department, officials acknowledge that the surrounding habitat remains ideal for leopards, suggesting the possibility of future encounters.
