**RANIPETA, Tamil Nadu –** A 59-year-old head constable was injured Thursday during a bull race in Pennagar village, near Kalavai in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu. K. Prabhakaran sustained injuries after being struck by a bull while managing crowds at the event.

The race, held on a 100-meter by 15-meter track, featured approximately 200 registered bulls. Around 20 police personnel were deployed to control the large crowd. Prabhakaran was treated at a local hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Walajah. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

Authorities have permitted bull races in 80 villages across Vellore district until May, with events scheduled in three villages daily (excluding Sundays) to manage crowd sizes. Tirupattur and Ranipet districts have allocated races to 40 and 2 villages respectively. Tiruvannamalai district, however, does not traditionally hold such events.
