**Agartala, Tripura, February 28, 2025** – The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura conducted a successful operation resulting in the apprehension of 13 Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, and two Indian border touts. The incident occurred Thursday near the Samarupara Border outpost in Panisagar, North Tripura.
The Bangladeshi nationals, belonging to four families and all sharing the surname Das, hail from various districts in Bangladesh, including Sunamganj, Brahmanbaria, Moulavi Bazar, and Netrokona. They were traveling in two autorickshaws escorted by the two Indian men, identified as border touts from Assam and Tripura, who allegedly facilitated their illegal entry into India for a fee.
The BSF’s 199th battalion intercepted the vehicles and apprehended all individuals involved. The two Indian touts have been handed over to the Tripura police for further legal proceedings.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of infiltration across the India-Bangladesh border, with similar apprehensions of Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya refugees becoming increasingly common at various locations within Tripura.
