WAYNESBORO, GA – Hannah Grace Cobb, a white woman from Georgia, has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of her Black boyfriend, 30-year-old Telvin “Telbo” Osborne. The shooting occurred early Sunday morning following a heated argument after a night of drinking.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call around 5:45 a.m. and found Osborne suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Cobb initially claimed the shooting was accidental, stating she was cleaning her firearm. However, further investigation led to the manslaughter charge, along with additional charges of simple battery, family violence, and reckless conduct. Sheriff Alfonzo Williams stated that the introduction of a firearm into an already volatile situation, while both individuals were intoxicated, was reckless.

The case has ignited intense online debate, fueled by Osborne’s past social media posts expressing a preference for white women over Black women. While some express sympathy for Osborne’s death, others criticize his comments as exhibiting internalized racism. The irony of his death at the hands of a white woman has further complicated the narrative.

Cobb is currently being held at the Burke County Jail and is cooperating with the investigation. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. The case is raising questions about the nature of the shooting and whether the charges adequately reflect the circumstances. Some believe harsher penalties are warranted, while others feel Osborne’s past statements have unfairly influenced public perception.
