NEW DELHI, February 28, 2025 – Twenty Indian game developers, winners of the Bharat Tech Triumph Programme (BTTP) Season 3, will represent India at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025 in San Francisco from March 17-21. The winning games, spanning diverse genres and platforms including mobile, PC, console, and AR/VR, were selected from over 1000 entries.
The diverse portfolio of winning games includes: VR sports experiences, anti-gravity racing games, a motion-sensing cricket bat, a mythology-based RPG, a pixel art RPG set in rural South India, a dark fantasy title, and an AI-powered game development platform. Other winners showcased strategy games, a dystopian adventure, and an AI-native 3D editor.
The BTTP, a joint initiative of WinZO Games, the Interactive Entertainment and Innovation Council, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, aims to promote India’s burgeoning gaming sector. Winners will also present their games at “Start-Up Mahakumbh” and “WAVES” in India.
A representative of the organizers highlighted the significant growth potential of India’s gaming market, currently valued at approximately $4 billion and projected to reach $60 billion by 2034 (according to a US-India Strategic Partnership Forum report). A government official emphasized the program’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s “Create in India for the World” vision, encouraging Indian creators in the AVGC sector.
